We’re back with some great news!

eBay sent us a message to congratulate us … heART is on the top 25 eBay for Charity sellers!!

Once again, we would like to express our heARTfelt gratitude to all of you: artists, buyers, supporters …and of course Off The Street Kids and Gillian Anderson.

We could never have done this without you. We hope to see you for heART 2 :)

Well, it’s been a while, hasn’t it? We bet you’ve already been wondering what heART has been up to since the second round of auctions closed on June 27. Let me assure you, we haven’t been bored, nor have we forgotten about our loyal supporters. In fact, taking the project through its third phase, i.e. wrapping up the eBay auctions, has made for a rather busy July here at heART headquarters.

But as of July 22nd, donations to Off The Street Kids have been completed and so it’s about damn time to announce the results of our little fundraising effort, dear bidders, winners and supporters. We are immensely proud to report a final donation* of

Which makes for about 786,83€ or $1028.63! (Source: Google)

The final value of the eBay auctions itself added up to £598.14, but after careful (and rather tedious, if I may say so) calculations concerning fees et cetera, we were able to add those extra Pounds missing to make it a round lot.

Needless to say, we are more than pleased with the outcome of heART’s first issue! Hopefully the funds raised will bring in a small blessing for those kids in South Africa. Once again we’d like to express our heARTfelt gratitude to every single person helping us along the way: first and foremost our artists and (winning) bidders for their incredible generosity, our avid promoters and supporters for believing in our cause and last but not least Amy and Michelle – our contacts at OTSK, and Gillian Anderson, without whose approval we couldn’t (and wouldn’t!) have done any of this.

And now?, you may think. Well, right now we are taking a well-deserved summer break, but rest assured that heART will be back, sooner or later! Roxane and I have already started plotting new things, though serious planning won’t commence before fall.

In the meantime, don’t miss out on the next rounds of X-Files auctions held by our friends, the Aussie X-Files Fans, scheduled for this September. Items include lots of photos, as well as some merchandise, donated and signed by The X-Files cast & crew. Proceeds will benefit another one of Gillian Anderson’s supported charities, Alinyiikira Junior School in Uganda.

The auctions are starting tonight, June 20th at 10:30 to 10:54 PM, GMT (London Time). They will close next Sunday, June 27th at the same times.

We hope you have enough savings left to spend on these seven gorgeous artworks and, of course, our surprise. Please note that four of the items are going to be shipped out for free (worldwide!), hopefully making for an even happier bidding experience! ;)

There are 2 days, 22 hours and some minutes left on Round 1 and we’ve already passed the £100 land mark last Wednesday! On that note, we would like to thank all of our supporters for their continuous enthusiasm and incredible generosity!

In fact, we’re so happy with the outcome of the auctions so far, that we – as organisers of heART – have decided to privately cover all additional costs caused by eBay and PayPal fees. Instead of 85%, we are now donating 100% of each sold artwork’s final value to OTSK. That way, as much of the raised money as possible will actually go to the charity.

Additionally, we have prepared a special surprise to be revealed at the start of Round 2.

June 14th is finally here, and we all know what that means: after a tantalising few weeks of promoting heART, we’re at last entering the final and crucial phase! This is what we’ve been working towards for the past 9 months, this is what we’re ultimately here for: to raise money for a good cause. Namely, to improve the lives of marginalised children and young adults in South Africa through Off The Street Kids. What better time for such an event to take place as right now, when the whole world is following the FIFA World Cup 2010 in that very country?

Vieh

Today is the day we’ve all been waiting for: the first round of auctions will hit off in a few hours! But before we send you over to eBay to place your bids, there is one artwork left to be shown. We are honoured to introduce you to heART’s very own co-organiser: Vieh.

After leading the XF2 campaign Create the Future a few years ago, she now happily lent her talent to heART and is offering us this beautiful Gillian Anderson portrait. Not only is Vieh a talented artist; as a medical student she spends most of her time covered in professional literature, so she can grow up to be as smart as Scully one day. Obviously she uses both sides of her brain for the greater good!

Fox Estacado

Time to lift the curtains for yet another amazing piece of art! We’re thrilled to introduce Fox Estacado’s slightly different donation: a digital painting titled “Whales and Sparrows” featuring our favourite G-Woman in a distinctly dream-like setting. Next to holding a Masters degree in Public Health, Fox Estacado is a California Arts Scholar, Ryman Arts Scholar, and Marie Walsh Sharpe Scholar most recently specialising on digital art.

The painting will be masterfully reproduced by fine arts printers on 11×14″ exhibition quality paper. It will be hand signed by the artist.
